What do you need to be happy?
In Brooklyn, we lived in an apartment so small, it didn’t have a sink in the bathroom.
The 300-square-foot unit had one sink. And it was in the kitchen. I stored our toothbrushes and face wash just opposite the dish rack. We washed our vegetables in the same sink that we brushed our teeth. I did my makeup sitting cross-legged on the ground in front of a floor mirror leaned against the wall.
It was weird at first, but we had everything we needed. At $1,395 a month, we could afford it. And most importantly, it was enough.
Today, we live in an apartment four-times the size of our shoebox in Brooklyn. I love having a double vanity, a walk-in closet and a kitchen island. But I can’t say that I’m four-times happier than I was in our micro-apartment in Brooklyn.
This got me thinking… what is enough? How do I stay grounded in that? When I stray, how do I bring myself back to center?
I don’t want to want more than I need.
Believe in your greatness,
